Blog as a content marketing tool

Here are just a few popular types of content marketing.

  1. Blogs
  2. Video Marketing
  3. Podcasts
  4. Email Marketing
  5. Webinars
  6. Practical cases
  7. Presentations
  8. E-books
  9. Technical documents

And the list goes on.

Is it possible to do all of the above? Hardly. Most brands simply don't have the resources to do this.

So which format should you focus on?

There is no universal answer to this question. We won’t cover every content marketing tactic in this post. We'll go over the types of content marketing that have worked for us and helped us grow our traffic and revenue in a few posts.

Namely:

  1. Blogs
  2. Video Marketing
  3. Podcasts
  4. Free tools
  5. Online courses
  6. Today we'll talk about blogs

Blogs

To attract traffic to the site and get more clients, we use our blog for the longest time.

The main goal of running our blog is to rank high in Google on topics relevant to our business and to receive passive organic traffic.

Find successful topics

If you want organic traffic, target topics that people are searching for.

Just don’t be guided by search frequency alone. You need to choose topics that will be popular with your potential buyers.

Let's say you sell cheap cars for the city. For example, the query “what are the fastest cars in the world” is unlikely to bring you many potential buyers, even if you get to the top for it.

Create the right type of content

To have a chance of ranking highly in the future, you need to create the content that users want to see.

Let's say you want to rank for the search term “how to reduce your car insurance premium.” Your intuition probably tells you to write a step-by-step guide. After all, the query starts with the word “how,” so it seems like that’s what people want, right?

Do not hurry. If you look at the top results for this query, they mostly consist of lists of tips.

Google carefully selects the results that will be best for the most people, which is why this is so important. And so you can get a good idea of what people want by looking at the top results.

When it comes to blog posts, they will often fall into one of four types:

  1. list
  2. step by step guide
  3. beginner's guide
  4. expanded definition

Promote your blog post

One of the biggest myths on the Internet is “if you write it, they will come.”

With over five million blog posts published per day, no one is going to look for your blog post unless you introduce it to your audience. The work doesn’t end with clicking the “Publish” button. You need to promote your content.
