Ads in Email are interactive adverts that are shown on the Promotions and Social Media tabs of your Inbox. When clicked, they can expand to the size of an email. Such an advert may contain images, videos or other embedded components. This type of advertising allows you to reach out to potential customers in a more personalised way. 

How it works.

The ad is shown in the inbox interface in a collapsed form. By clicking on the ad, the user can be taken to the advertiser's landing page or see the ad unfold in place of the email. The ad can contain embedded forms, videos and other interactive components, so it is suitable for a variety of marketing purposes.

By unfolding the ad, the user can watch a video, fill out a form, go to a website or (on a mobile device) call your company or open your app page in the shop. The user can save the ad by clicking on the star icon or Save button at the bottom of the post, as well as email the ad.

Ads optimises ads to look equally appealing in the browser on your computer or smartphone, as well as in the Gmail app. The ad layout automatically adapts for easy viewing on mobile devices. To make your ads even more effective, you can choose from specialised mobile formats such as "Interactive Phone Numbers" or "App Promotion".

When you preview in Google Ads, you can test how the ad will appear to most users. However, keep in mind that the appearance of the Gmail app differs for Android and iOS devices, as well as in different browsers for computers. Also, many people prefer to use older versions of the mobile app.

How targeting works

  • Audiences of interested buyers. This feature makes it easy to attract potential customers who are actively searching for the products and services you offer.
  • Important life events. This feature allows you to show ads related to specific events, such as a wedding, graduation, or relocation.
  • Remarketing. Show ads to people who have already been interested in your company's products or services, such as visiting your website, installing your mobile app, watching your videos, or subscribing to your newsletter. To show ads in Gmail to a remarketing list, you must have at least 100 users who have been active in the last 30 days.
